last Will & Testament
Proved in Court by the Oath of
Wm. Orr one of the Witnesses thereto June 1762

To Law as Exor & Executrix
Registered 10th Nov. 1762

Ja. Moran regr.
In the name of God Amen, I Edward Pearsall being weak in body but of
sound and perfect memory praise be God therefore do make & ordain this
my last will & testament in manner & form following: first and
principally I recommend my soul to God who gave it and as to the
temporal estate it hath pleased him to bestow upon me I give and dispose
of as follows--
First I will that all my lawfull debts be paid and discharged &
also my funeral charges at the discretion of my executors & executrix
herein after mentioned--
Item I do give and bequeath all my land to my two sons James &
Edward to be divided by the main Branch that runs through my land as far
as the park & from thence to the head of my land to be divided by & at
the discretion of my executors --
Item I give and bequeath to my well beloved son James the sd
plantation and buildings and all my land on that side of the said
Branch to him his heirs and assigns forever in consideration of which he
must pay to my well beloved son Jeremiah thirty pounds proclamation
money when he is eighteen years of age --
Item I do give and bequeath to my well beloved son Edward all my
land on the other side of said Branch to him & his heirs and assigns
Item I do give and bequeath all my estate real and personal, to my
beloved wife during her widowhood and one third part of my moveable
estate to her and her heirs and assigns forever.
Item I do give and bequeath all the remaining part of my moveable
estate to be equelly divided between my beloved sons and daughters --
And do hereby appoint and ordain my beloved wife CATHERINE executrix
with Benjamin Evens & _______? James?? executors of this my last will &
testament and I do hereby disavow and make void all former wills and
testaments by me heretofore made in witness whereof I have set my hand
& seal at Saint James Parrish in New Hanover County in North Carolina in
the year of our Lord God One thousand seven hundred and sixty two.
