 Will of Barbara Wilkinson, Duplin Co., NC, Book A, p. 488

 In the name of God, Amen, I Barbara Wilkinson of the State of NC, Duplin Co., being weak in body, but of sound mind and memory and reflecting upon the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death, to hereby make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, viz:

  First, I give up and relinquish my Soul to God who gave it and my body to be decently buried at the descretion of my executors hereafter named.

Secondly, I wish out of my property as my executor may think it will be most proper to dispose of

Item - It give and bequeath to my son Lincoln Shuffield, my negro woman Maria and her two children Lott and Sam, one bed bolster and two pillars and one half of the bedclothes that I may be possessed of and three of my best sheets and I give and bequest to my daughter, Susan Hooks, my negro woman, Silvy and one bed bolster, two pillars and the other half of the bedclothes that I may be possessed of.

  Item - I give and bequest to my son, William Dickson, one bed which he has already received.

  Item - I give and bequeath to my grandson, Thomas Armstrong, one bed and furniture which is to be furnished with bolsters, pillows, sheets, coverlet before the division takes place between Lincoln Shuffield and Susan Hooks.

  Item - I wish all my household furniture not mentioned in this Will, my kitchen furniture, stock and everything not mentioned hereinto to be sold and the money to be equally divided between Lincoln Shuffield, Susan Hooks, William Dickson, and the children of Edward Armstrong, the children of Edward Armstrong having one fourth of it equally divided among them.

 Item - I constitute and appoint David Hooks, executor to this my last Will and Testament, in testimony of which I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal, this 10th day of February 1827.

 Signed, sealed and acknowledged in presence of David O. Bunton, Jr. and William Hodges

 State of NC , Duplin Co. April. Term 1827 This was the written Will proved in Open court in due form of law by the oath of David Bunton one of the subscribing witnesses thereto and at the same time, David Hooks, the executor named in said Will qualified as such according to law. Ordered that letters be issued.
