Will of Edmond Duncan ~ 1799

  DUPLIN CO, NC WILL BK A, p108-written 13 Sep 1799 - proved October, 1799. In the name of God amen. I, Edmond Duncan of the County of Duplin and State of No. Carolina, being of sound mind and memory, but calling to mind the mortality of the body and certainty of death and being desioris that all my affairs should be settled to my mind do make and ordain this to be my last will and Testament in Maucull(?) and the following. Viz: First, I give and bequeath to my well beloved wife Grace Duncan one horse bridle and sadle; Secondly, I give to my sons William Duncan, Edmond Duncan and George Duncan, and my daughter Anna Reaves five shillings each and no more. Likewise my Will is that my Grand children the ofspring of my daughter Sarah Roach decd have no part of my estate, also my carpenter and turners tools I will should be sold and the money arising therefrom to be applyed to the payment of all my just debts and if any supply remains to be disposed of as hereafter to be mentioned. The residue and remainder of my Estate consisting of Horses, Cattle, Hogs and sheep, Household Goods of every kind and plantation tools I lend to my wife during her natural life or wodowhood and then to be equally divided between my Daughter Mary Brown, Grace Duncan and Catron Reaves share and share alike and if any supply should remain from the of my tools above mentioned my will is that it should be divided between my three last mentioned Daughters. Lastly I constitute and appoint my son Edmond Duncan and George Duncan to Execute this my Last will and Testament. Revoking and disannuling all former or other wills and declaring this and none after to be my last will and Testament, in witness whereof I the Edmund Duncan have hereunto set my hand and seal this 13 day of September in the year of our Lord 1799. Signed, sealed published and declared by the said Edmund Duncan to be his last will and testament in pressence of Reuben R Werton Edmund Duncan {Seal} his Zachariah X Harris mark State of No. Carolina October Term 1799 Duplin County This was the within will proved in Open Court by the Oath of Zachariah Harris one of the subscribing witness thereto. And at the same time Edmund Duncan and George Duncan the Executors named in the said will came before the Court and Qualified as such according to law and Letters were issued accordingly.
