  Will Bk A, Page 447 Duplin Co., N.C. In the name of God Amen the 1st day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty four? -- David SLOAN in the county of Duplin a planter being very sick and is weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be givin unto God & am calling unto mind mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men are to dye do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say for or ---- and first of all I give and recommend my soul unto the hands of God that gave it t me and for my body I recommend it to the earth to be buried in a Christian like decent manner at the descretion of my Executors nothing doubting and at the general reserection I shall receive the same by the mity power of God and as ----wordly estate whereunto it pleased God to bless me in this life I give divide and dispose of the same in the following names and form Imprimis: It is my will and I do order that in the first place all my debts first and funeral charges be paid and satisfied. Item: I give and bequeath unto Margaret my dearly beloved wife all my goods and chattles lands houses and implements, horses cattle hogs and sheep and negroes and this is to enjoy the benefits of all these things I have named imprimis and virtue during her life or widowhood. Item: I give to my oldest son John SLOAN one shilling. Item: I give my son David SLOAN, Mr.? BROWNS field and all that belongs to it (one shilling: crossed out) (Item: crossed out) and one feather bed and furniture and one two year horse and one negro boy MINGO. Item: I give to my son Gibson SLOAN the plantation where I live now and one featherbed and fixtures and one negro boy TOME, and one year old colt. Item I give to my dauter Margaret SLOAN one feather bed and furniture and one negro boy boy? LUM, Item: I give to my dauter Susanna SLOAN one feather bed and furniture and negro boy FRANK. Item I give my dauter Polly BROCK one negro wench BUCK. Each one of these leagecees to be shown an equal part of what is left after her decease. July Term 1785 Then was the within will proved in open Court in due form of law by Robert SLOAN and Jacob BARNETT two of the subscribing witnesses thereto ordered said will be filled. At the same time Margaret SLOAN, Lewis BROCK and David SLOAN the Executors of the said will came before the court and qualified according to law. Ordered their letters issue accordingly. Test: W.
