Looking for information pertaining to James STRICKLAND who md. Louisa WEST. Not sure of James' parents. He was born probably in Duplin about 1819 and died either in Magnolia or in Sampson County sometime after 1870 census. I believe that James and Louisa were married about 1840 in Duplin. Louisa was a daughter of Daniel WEST (s/o James WEST and Lucy RACKLEY) and Elizabeth EZELL (d/o Reuben EZELL and Sarah RACKLEY). The 1850 census does not show James and Louisa with a son James R. about 8 yo. I am expecting he was missed. In 1870 James and Louisa had a next dorr neighbor James R. STRICKLAND and wife Martha (FILYAW). I would like to find out when James and Louisa were married and possibly when they died and where buried. I have seen a deed for Daniel WEST to Joshua J. WEST dated 1872 that describes the land with a corner on James STRICKLAND's land.

My great grandfather is Jack Swinson, and his parents are James H. Swinson b. c1838 Green Co. Alabama? died before 1880 Meridian, MS and Lucinda J. Youngblood b. 1838/39 Alabama (daughter of John M. Youngblood and Maria Harris). James and Lucinda were married on 11/24/1858 in Pontotoc Co., MS. From there I have tentatively connected to James Glisson Swinson b. 7/10/1805 Duplin Co., due to my Jack naming a son Robert Glisson Swinson. Would love to hear from others descending from this James Glisson Swinson.

I am researching my Mobley ancestors who according to the 1880 Census resided in Cypress Creek, Duplin County, NC. According to this Census record the Head of Household was George Sylvester Mobley (37 years old); Sena E. Brown Mobley (56 y/o)-wife; Martha A. Mobley (19 y/o)-dau. possibly married a George Denton; George W. Mobley (my great-grandfather-17 y/o)-son; Daniel E. Mobley (15 y/o)-son; Eli W. Mobley (13 y/o)-son. I am wondering if this family might have had an older son named John that may have not been residing in the household at this time. My ggrandfather's obit (George W.)lists two surviving siblings as a John Mobley and Mrs. George Denton both being from Raleigh. I know that this is a long shot but ages sound right. I have done previous research on my Mobley ancestors and hit a brick wall with George W. Mobley. Here is what I know about him: Birth year-1863; Died-12/1929 in Savannah, GA - buried in Laurel Grove Cemetery North. Married Cordelia A. Jones Sawyer Mobley -DOB 02/1868. Had 6 children - Arthur Dewey Mobley-DOB 04/1883 (my grandfather); Willie (died of the flu); John; Jack; Benjamin and Beulah Mobley Blevins. Have heard through the years that there was possibly some Cherokee Indian heritage. Any help appreciated, will share what I have.

I am looking for information on William QUINN & wife Lucy who are listed in the 1880 Albertson, Duplin County, NC Census. Their parents names and any children born after 1880. I am trying to find out if they also had sons Jesse and Jasper born after 1880. Also looking for spouses of these two brothers. They list a son Lonny J. QUINN. I want to find out if this is the same Lonnie J. QUINN who married Frances THOMPSON and later moved to Lenoir County. Jesse QUINN married Pearl STANLEY, either in Duplin or Lenoir County. He had atleast one child a daughter named Adelle who married James Henry Thompson, the son of William Jason Thompson. I think Jasper was married more than once, but don't know names of either wifes. Jasper QUINN had aleast one child by the name of James (Jim) Edward QUINN who worked for William Jason THOMPSON at Tull's Mill in Deep Run, Lenoir County, and married his daughter Carrie Mae THOMPSON.
