I'm really reaching for the moon, but I'm trying to get any information on Mary DICKSON, b. 9/16/1860, m. John Andrew SISK c.1894(lived in Rutherford Co. in 1900). Census information says they had been married 6 years at that time. Had 4 children, 2 still living, Millard Dewitt (my father) & Oscar Briscoe?. Mary died 4/22/1910 and is buried at Snow Hill Church Cemetery in Burke county. I believe her father may have been Binaja DICKSON/DIXON and her mother's name Piercy. If anyone has any information on these people, please contact me.

In the 1850 census of Duplin County there is a listing for a John E. HUSSEY, age 72; Malsey HUSSEY, age 40; Elizabeth MERCER, age 20; John E. HUSSEY, age 17; and Robert BISHOP, age 72. Robert was the father of Malsey and John, age 17, was the grandson of the brother of John E. HUSSEY, Bryan HUSSEY of Charleston, SC. Who was Elizabeth MERCER and how does she connect with this family?

Samuel WHALEY gave power of atty. to John B. HUSSEY of NC in Nov. of 1852 for the express purpose of retrieving "his share" of the estate of Capt. Bryan HUSSEY of Charleston, SC. Samuel WHALEY also signed a paper stating he was the lawful husband of Margaret KETTLEBAND Hussey, daughter of another John B. HUSSEY, deceased, who was the son of Capt. Bryan HUSSEY of Charleston, SC. Both Margaret KETTLEBAND HUSSEY and her brother, John Edward HUSSEY, were minor children of said John HUSSEY, deceased, in 1845, when the estate was supposedly settled according to the record of the Ordinary of Charleston, SC. At the time of the estate settlement, both of the minor children of John B. Hussey, deceased, were under the guardianship of another John E. HUSSEY of Duplin County, NC. This John E. Hussey was Col. John E. Hussey who was former senator and representative of said county. John B. HUSSEY, the said power of atty of Samuel WHALEY, was John Bryan HUSSEY of Duplin County and ol! ! dest child of Col. John E. HUSSEY, also of that county. John Bryan HUSSEY's son was also a John Bryan HUSSEY. In Oct. of 1852, John Bryan Hussey was also the certified administrator of the estate of Edward E. HUSSEY as witnessed by Benjamin GRADY, clerk of the court of Duplin Co. in that year. Edward E. HUSSEY was the brother of John Bryan HUSSEY, Sr. and another son of Col. John E. HUSSEY of Duplin County. However, Col. John E. HUSSEY also died in 1852 and the reference to Edward E. HUSSEY, deceased, may be in error. Edward E. HUSSEY who was the sheriff in Duplin County in 1850 and, although he may have died ca. 1852 as he does not appear in any other record after that date, should not have been a factor in the resolute efforts of Samuel WHALEY'S power of atty, John Bryan Hussey, Sr. It was Col. John E. HUSSEY who was the legal guardian of said minor children of John B. HUSSEY, deceased, and not Edward E. HUSSEY, deceased sheriff. As it is possible that Edward E. HUSSEY was n! ! ot the legal guardian of John Edward HUSSEY, minor, after the death of Edward's father in April of 1852, it is possible that John Edward HUSSEY, minor, was living there for an interim period until guardianship could be determined, etc. Furthermore, in a letter written by Benjamin GRADY from Kenansville, NC, on the 23rd of Nov. 1852, John Bryan Hussey, Sr. was appointed the legal guardian of John Edward HUSSEY, minor child, in July of that year. By February 26th 1853, John Bryan Hussey, Sr. received from George Bruce, clerk of the county of Ordinary of Charleston the sum of one hundred twenty-four and 6 1/4 / 100 dollars "being the amount infull due to Samuel WHALEY and wife Margaret K. and John E. HUSSEY heirs at law of John B. HUSSEY, deceased, from the estate of the late Bryan HUSSEY, deceased." I am looking for information on all of the above.
