a#BRICEBRICEa#FOLSOMFOLSOM posted by Eve Weeks on Tuesday, April 13, 1999

Would like to share info with anyone working on the BRICE & FOLSOM family of Duplin Co., NC. According to the History of Brooks Co., GA, (1948), JOSEPH BRICE & wife MARTHA FOLSOM emigrated from PA to Duplin Co., NC, & were natives of England. I descend from FRANCIS BRICE & wife ELISABETH MURPHY, who emigrated to Thomas Co., GA (later cut into Brooks Co) in 1833, settling at Tallokas where they built quite a plantation. Francis was b. 1804 & d. 1878; Martha b. 1805 & d. 1880. Would appreciate any info on the ancestry of this couple. Will be glad to share what I have on their descendants from various sources, incuding the Timothy W. Brice Bible now owned by my grandmother. Thanks,

I am looking for family tree structure of John HILBURN who had land records from 1755 to 1769. There are also land records for a Hamblin HILBURN from 1767 to 1787. These were obtained through Sampson County Historical Society. Does anyone know if Hamblin HILBURN was a son or a brother, and if they were related to Vaughn HILBURN of Dobbs and Wayne County about the same time period. thanks

a#BUTLERBUTLERa#HENDERSONHENDERSON posted by Charlie Weaver on Friday, April 16, 1999

Am still looking for parents of my Jesse R. HENDERSON, who is listed in the Duplin Co census of 1860, with wife Mary (Amanda BUTLER) and children. According to this census and his CSA enlistment papers he would have been born c1832. Mary Amanda was the d/o Elijah BUTLER, a blacksmith living in the Cypress Creek area of Duplin. Jesse R. died in VA in 1863, but there are no records of Mary Amanda/children receiving the usual wife's/widow's aid. There are 3 entries in the IGI for a Jesse R. in Duplin but only one comes close to right age. No sources are given. Anyone having any helpful hints about Jesse or any info on the father of Elijah BUTLER, from several possible males in the Cypress Creek area 1784-1840. Charlie Weaver, Winston-Salem

My compliments to you for such a good, informative internet site. I found the census data by Fred M. Hintz particularly useful.

I hope you can help me further or direct me to someone who might. I am trying to track my ancestors, but have reached a roadblock that I am haveing a very hard time breaking through.

I am a descendant of John H. WATERS who, with his wife Sarah, farmed and raised a family of 11 in Pike County Alabama beginning in 1837. Mr. Waters' roots were in North Carolina. So were his wife's.

Some sources indicate Mr. WATERS was born somewhere in the state on February 5, 1814. His father, James WATERS, was born in NC in 1787.

I have reasons to believe that the James WATERS listed in the 1820 Onslow County census is the father of John H. WATERS. But I don't have any proof. I believe that the father of James WATERS is the John WATERS listed in the 1790 Duplin County census, but again I have no proof.

I believe the 1814 marriage occurred either in Duplin or Onslow County. His wife's maiden name was Sarah Jane STEPHENS.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

I have researched my genealogy as far back as William LAMB (born: approx. 1752, married: 2/15/1777, died: 1807 in New Hanover County, NC) he married Abigail DAVID. William and Abigail had several children one of which was John Deloit LAMB (died: 1844 in Sampson County, NC). John Deloit LAMB married Elizabeth HENRY and they had several children one of which was James Henry LAMB (born: 12-18-1808 in New Hanover County, NC, died: 11-19-1889 in Sampson County, NC, married to Nancy Clark UNDERWOOD, both James and Nancy are buried in the Lamb Cemetery on Colin Lamb's estate, located on RT. 1 Garland, NC).I am interested in finding information on William LAMB's ancestors and filling in the gaps for his descendents.I found a reference to Peter LAMB on a New Hanover County deed, dated 1-28-1744 for 130 acres of land at Long Creek. Peter's property was deeded by Thomas LAMB (probably his eldest son) on 2-15-1775 in equal lots to Gibbs LAMB, Robert LAMB, William LAMB and John STACKLY (probably son in law of Peter). I think Peter was William's father or possibly Thomas's father, and maybe Thomas was William's father. The earliest record I can find of a LAMB in New Hanover County was a land grant from King George II to Captain John LAMB in 1736 (June 16) for 350 acres on the east side of Black River, which runs from the present day Sampson County (once New Haven) almost all the way to Wilmington.I would appreciate any information that anyone can provide me

William MONDS was probably born before 1786 and may have been born in Duplin County. He married Sarah SULLIVAN (b: 24 May 1790 Duplin) on 2 March 1810 in Duplin. Sarah was the daughter of Michael Campbell SULLIVAN and Mildred (Millie). I would like to know a more exact date for William MONDS birth, and I would like to know the names of his parents or any siblings. Alexander MUNDS and William MUNDS appear beside each other in the 1810 census of Duplin County and Milly SULLIVAN also appears in that census. Alexander MUNNS and William MUNS appear in the 1820 Cumberland census but not in Duplin and I was wondering if these are the same gentlemen who appeared in 1810 in Duplin. Alexander MONS appears in the 1800 census in Duplin but not William. I would appreciate any light that could be thrown on the individuals named above or on anyone connected with them.
