I am searching for info on ancestors/descendants of HENRY J. MENIX/MINICK/MINIX. He is shown with wife and six children (3 males and 3 females) in 1810 census of Duplin Co. Sometime between 1810 and 1820 moved to New Hanover Co. The family less oldest daughter shown in 1820 census of New Hanover Co. Sometime in the mid/late 1830's some of the family moved to Telfair Co., GA. Looking for info on parents of Henry J., where he was prior to 1810, and if not born this county when and what ship and port of entry did he come to US. The 1820 census listed Henry J., his wife, 1 son and 1 daughter as foreigners not naturalized.Would like to communicate with anyone researching the MENIX/MINICK/MINIX families in PA-VA-NC-SC-GA.

Richard MURPHY/MURPHREY became guardian of Willis, Willie and Mary MURPHREY in 1809 Amite Co., MS, parents unknown. Richard stated in his Rev. war pension application that he was born in 1762 in Duplin Co., NC and served under a William Dixon. In the 1790 census for Sampson Co., we find Michael, Richard, Miles, William, Edward and Charles MURPHY/MURPHREY. Michael married Mary PARKER in 1778 Duplin, is the suspected son of Capt. John MURPHREY of Greene Co., NC, and Isle of Wight VA. William MURPHY/MURPHREY married Susannah Parker in 1779 (I believe that Miles Murphrey was the bondsman) The names Miles and William continue on down through our line of MURPHREY'S. Families associated with these Sampson Co., MURPHREY'S are CHESTNUTT, DARDEN, KEEN, PARKER. Would be interested in hearing from other researcher's working on these families. Would like to determine parentage of Willis (born August 19, 1792 in NC), Willie and Mary MURPHREY. Mississippi records only show guardianship records, no other mention of parents. Researching the HEWITT families of Duplin Co., NC. The earliest families I know of are those of John and Mary HEWITT and Thomas and Elizabeth (WHITEHURST) HEWITT, who were in the county by the 1760s. I suspect that John and Thomas were brothers. Have a substantial amount of information on these families and their descendants, but there are many details that need to be filled in as well. Would like to hear from anyone who has an interest in these families. Known intermarriages include surnames PITTS, WEEKS, WHITEHURST, WATSON, and WILLIAMSON, Descendants of John and Mary include include John, Thomas, and Sarah (m WEEKS); children of son John are believed to be Rigdon, Ellenor, Willett, Desire (m, MITCHELL), and Dempsey.
