I don’t know how accurate my information is. I have Kinchen Turnage (abt 1794 – aft. 1860) married Matilda Rasberry (abt. 1808 – aft. 1880) abt. 1830 Greene County. I have their children listed as:
    1. Emanuel Turnage Sept. 10, 1831 (?)
    2. Zacharian Turnage
    3. James Turnage
    4, Mary Catherine Turnage July 6, 1841 (?)
    5. Caroline Turnage * abt. 1844
    6. Charles Turnage abt. 1848
    7. Buckner Thomas Turnage abt. 1849
    8. Frances Turnage (male) abt 1852
    9. William Edward Turnage March 1853
    * my husband’s direct line. I found on the 1860 Census that 4. Mary Catherine was listed as Catherine C. Turnage. Also on the 1910 Census, Caroline Turnage was listed as a widow with the last name Turnage, living with her daughter Ellen and son-in-law Christopher C Pearson. I don’t understand how she could be a widow and still have her maiden name in the 1880, 1910 and 1920 Census. I appreciate any help you can give me.

My great grandmother was Sarah Jane Lanier, from Duplin County. She was married to John Wesley Evans. Her father, Joseph James Lanier, was married to Martha Dixon Churchwell. I have his Civil War Records that listed him as born in 1832. He died in 1896. I have found him living as an overseer in the home of David Churchwell in 1860 and before that 1850 in the home of Bird (Byrd) Lanier as a laborer. I believe he may have been in New Hanover County before that working as a tailor, but his birthplace is always given as Duplin County. I can't find his parents. Can you be of help? Hi folks, need some help because I'm really stuck. My G-G-Grandparents were John Pope and Annie Carr or Polly Kerr. I have the death certificate of their daughter Mary and it says her mother was Annie Carr. The genealogy book on William Taylor of Duplin/Sampson Co NC states her name Polly Kerr. That is my problem. Is the surname Carr or Kerr? I am descended from John Thomas Pope and Mary Elizabeth Beasley. John Thomas was the son of John Pope and Annie Carr/Polly Kerr. Annie/Polly was born abt 1810. I still don't know who her parents are, my great aunt thought it may be Jonathan Carr. I found a Polly Carr born about the right time but she married a Bannerman. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, (since I'm already begging), I need to know the parents of Julia Carter who married Isaac Teachey. Both raised in Duplin/Sampson Counties, NC and born abt 1815. Also my G-G-Grandparents.

    PHOTOGRAPHS

George Washington Dunn and wife Susan Lassiter came to Duplin Co. in the mid 1860's with their boys Henderson Boyette, Moses Jackson, Preston Union and Doctor Benjamin.
If you have photo's of any of the above people or their children or grandchildren please send a copy to me for my personal records at winoaks@earthlink.net or Mike and Diane to be published to show record of the Dunn Heratige on this DuplinNC Web site.
The Sandlins, Jones, Blalocks and Sullivans were here before the Dunns.
I would like to see how each one, with a photo or portrait, looked.
I always say my Dad, his brothers and my son got their tall stature from the Dunn's. A photo of my Gr.Grandmother Martha Sullivan shows how she towered over my Gr. Grandfather Henderson Dunn at 5'-10".
I have visited some Sullivan's in Duplin County who were very tall.
Some of the had short mothers like me and didn't make 6'-0".
My Dad was the shortest Dunn in his family at 6'-2"

    Thank you very much

When I started my research I was given the info that Absalom Strickland listed in the Duplin 1790 census was my 5ggrandfather and that the Jesse Strickland who married an Elizabeth Shuffield/Sheffield in Duplin in 1825 was my 3rdggrandfather. However, after much research I found that Jesse stayed in Duplin until his death, found in 1830-1860 Duplin census. After more research and talking to many people I believe that my line goes back via Sampson County to a Jesse Strickland that appeared in the 1830 Sampson census, p188-21, and the 1820 Sampson census, p308-8.

Over the years I have posted several queries regarding the different Jesse Strickland and have received very few replies. However, if anyone has info regarding the Jesse Strickland I mentioned in Sampson County it would be very helpful. A Daniel Strickland directed me to the Sampson County Stricklands and the one I found in the 1820 & 1830 census matches the Jesse Strickland I am looking for with only 1 or 2 differences in the children. Have not been able to locate his father but Daniel thinks his Grandfather was William Strickland whose wife's name was Sarah. We know via DNA that we connect back to the Mathew Strickland in Isle of Wright, VA.
    Thanks
