This information is contributed by Carolyn Shank Source: Duplin Court Records Written: January 1789 Recorded: January 1789 Duplin Court Minutes January, 1789 THE BRICE ESTATE JAMES GILLESPIE, JOSEPH THOMAS RHODES, and KEDAR BRYAN, a Committee appointed to settle accounts between Guardians and Orphans of FRANCIS BRICE, dec'd, and Orphans of said dec'd, report that DANIEL SOUTHERLAND, one of the Guardians of said orphans, did at different periods in 1780 and 1781 receive from FELIX KENAN, the acting executor of FRANCIS BRICE, dec'd, 5, 696. 9.3 pounds which with interest amounted to 5,696.16.7 ; said MR. SOUTHERLAND charged no commissions and produced to the Committee 7,086 pounds which he says on Oath is principal and interest and that he hath not used any part of it contrary to his trust as Guardian; Ordered recorded and filed. DANIEL SOUTHERLAND, Guardian of JOHN BRICE and FRANCIS BRICE, paid unto the Clerk's Office 7,086 in State Dollar Bills. Ordered filed till called for by Order of the Court. The Committee also reported that WILLIAM SOUTHERLAND, Guardian to JOSEPH BRICE and GEORGE BRICE suggested that his Ward GEORGE BRICE will be of lawful age by next Term to which time they agreed to postpone a settlement; Court concurred with both reports and ordered recorded and filed.
