    JULY 20, 1791 Court met at 9:00 a. m.
    Present: Worshipfuls WILLIAM BECK, THEOPHILUS WILLIAMS, THOMAS JAMES, ESQS
    
    Granted Adm'n to DANIEL CLARK on Estate of JOHN CLARK, dec'd; he gave bond of 
    2,000 pounds, took Oath of Adm'n.
    
    Inventory of Estate of JOHN CLARK, dec'd, exhibited by adm'r & ordered filed.
    
    Appointed WILLIAM SOUTHERLAND a Constable for ensuing year; he gave bond and 
    qualified.
    
    As at July Termy BETSEY SMITH, then about 10, was bound apprentice to JOHN 
    CARLETON till she attain age 18 & said JOHN CARLETON being since dead, ordered 
    said BETSEY SMITH continue by same Indentures apprentices to ELISABETH 
    CARLETON, widow and Adm'r of said JOHN CARLETON.
    
    THOMAS ROUTLEDGE, SHADRACK STALLINGS & THOMAS JAMES, a Committee last Term to 
    divide estate of OWEN KENAN, dec'd rendered their report in writing: They find 
    in hands of BENJAMIN LEDDEN, Adm'r in right of his wife, 4 Negroes:
    BETTY     valued at 110-0-0
    CLARINDA  valued at 110-0-0
    EMANUEL   valued at  90-0-0
    SATIRA    valued at  50-0-0

    Also in the account of sales we find 42-18-4 pounds. MRS. LEDDENS share of 
    above sale to be 14-6-1 pounds which leaves a balance due the children of 28-
    12-3 pounds. It appears to the Committee that MR. LEDDEN has paid MR. KINNEAR 
    his share of the vendue money being 6-15-l6 pounds & also paying MRS. LEDDEEN 
    1-10-0 pounds which appears to be due her at the last division, we find a 
    balance of 20-7-1 pounds due the three children -- CATHERINE, OWEN & WILLIE, 
    3/4 each share. CATHARIN KENAN'S Guardian chooses for her the Negro girl
    CLARINA, valued at 110 pounds. We then find that there remains 17-11-11 3/4 
    due CATHARIN which MR. LEDDEN has settled with her Guardian. Then there will 
    remain in MR. LEDDENS possession the other 3 Negroes & a balance of 5-3-11 
    1/2  due to the other 2 children, OWEN & WILLIE. Court concurred & Ordered 
    recorded and filed.
    
    WILLIAM DICKSON, SAMUEL HOUSTON, THOMAS HOOKS, DAVID MURDOCK & JOSEPH DICKSON, 
    being a Committee to divide the lands of JOSEPH GRIMES, dec'd, between the 
    several Claimants of said dec'd agreeable to the vallue thereof, have rendered 
    their report in writing as follows:
    Lott #1 to JOHN GRIMES including the
    Gavin Plantation & the old Mill, etc.
    Small piney woods Patent
    Part of back woods Patent joining                       180 acres

    This Lott to pay #2 10 pounds to Lott #3 20 pounds, that is to say to Lott #2 
    two years after date with one year's interest & to Lott #4 one year after date

    forks of Mill branch & the Indian Old Field               76 acres

    Lott #3 to JOSEPH GRIMES, including land between

    In this Lott is considered the Widow's Dower,
    exclusive of the 100 acres on Hall's Marsh.
    Lott #5 to CHARLES GRIMES, including all the lands in sundry Grants on the 
    East side of Northeast River supposed in all abouot 1100 or 1200 acres. Which 
    report is signed & submitted to the Court and concurred with & Ordered 
    recorded and filed.
    
    Ordered JAMES WILLIAMS, JR., be Overseer of Northeast River from GEORGE 
    MILLER'S Lagoon up to KORNEGAY'S Bridge & that FREDERICK GRADDY, THOMAS 
    SHELTON, FRED'K SMITH, JACOB MAINOR, MR. HUBBARD'S BOSON, JOHN WILLIAMS' 
    ARTHUR and JACK & JAMES HERRINGS' NED & BOBB work under him.
    
    Appointed RICHARD COOPER a Constable, he gave bond and qualified.
    
    Granted Adm'n to DANIEL HICKS on Estate of JOSEPH BAKER, dec'd; he gave bond 
    of 50 pounds & qualified.
    
    Ordered HENRY GRADDY, BENJAMIN THOMSON, JOHN THOMSON, HENRY JOHNSTON & STEPHEN 
    GUFFORD be added to District of Road on both sides of the Northeast under 
    ISAAC KORNEGAY, Overseer.
    
    Ordered WILLIAM MCGEE be a Constable the ensueing year, he gave bond & 
    qualified.
    
    Ordered OWEN O'DANIEL be a Constable the ensueing year; he gave bond & 
    qualified.
    
    In sut of Ex'ers of J. MOLTEN vs. THOMAS JOHNSTON, judgment for Principal, 
    Interest & Costs -- Stay of execution for 18 months & the Plaintiffs to make a 
    Title to the Land sold by JOHN MOLTEN to Defendant before Execution (signed)
    THOMAS JOHNSTON.
    
    Ordered ELIAS JAMES be Overseer of Road in room of DAVID HALL.

    be permitted to sell victuals & Drink in same manner as his House or Tavern at 
    home.
