Winnabow--Mr. William Thomas Lanier, 90, of 7672 Clay Hill Road SE, died
Monday, December 14, 1992, in J. Arthur Dosher Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Lanier was born in Duplin County on June 9, 1902 and was the son of
the late John Henry and Nancy Elizabeth Caudill Lanier. He was a member
of Zion United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by a son,
Franklin Monroe Lanier in 1969.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine C. Lanier of the home; two sons,
Jimmy Lanier of Leland, William Thomas Lanier Jr. of the home; three
daughters, Betty Lou Combs of Winnabow, Inez Graham of Chicago, Ill. and
Virginia Mobley of Winnabow; two brothers, Liston Lanier of Wilmington and
John Albert Lanier of Punta Gorde, Fla.; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Gilliam
of Arizona; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 17, 1992 at 11 a.m. at
Zion United Methodist Church with the Reverend Billy Peele officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lanier Jr., Edward Ray Combs, Paul Graham Jr.,
who are grandsons. Remaining active pallbearers will be Edward Tharpe,
Ralph Frazier, Bryant Henry and D.H. Keplay. Honorary pallbearers will be
Orbrey Smith and Paul Setnicky.
The family will receive friends at the home.
