W. A. Carter, 74, Warsaw, Dies Sun. Morning
William A. Carter, 74, died early Sunday morning at his home near Warsaw
after an illness of three years with bronchial asthma.
Surviving are his wife, the former Kathleen Summerlin; seven sons, Charles
of Bowden, John Beulaville, Henry of Warsaw, Joseph of Mt. Olive, Route 2,
and W. A., Jr., Mack and Lonnie Lee Carter, all of the home; six daughters,
Mrs. Dora Whaley of Beulaville, Mrs. Joyce E. Carter of Clinton, Mrs.
Lottie Mae Holland of Faison, Mrs. Swinnie Bell Holland of Turkey, Mrs.
Adell Matthis of Warsaw and Mabel Anne Carter of the home; a sister, Mrs.
Daisy Whaley of Warsaw; three brothers, Alex Carter of Richlands, Walter
Carter of Beulaville, and Enoch Carter of Warsaw, Route 1.
Mr. Carter was a member of the Free Will Holiness church in Warsaw, where
funeral services were held today at 3 p. m., conducted by the Rev. Reuben
Jones of Kinston. Burial was in the family cemetery.
