Obituary of Watus Aden Cavenaugh ~ 1989

Watus Aden Cavenaugh, age 77, of Route 3, Wallace, died Friday night, 
February 17, in Duplin General Hospital in Kenansville after a brief 
illness.
Funeral service was Monday, February 20, at 2:00 p. m. from the North East 
Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. W. R. Pierce, 
the Rev. Tim Crowder, and the Rev. Herbert Carter. Burial followed in the 
Cavenaugh Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Lena Mae Bradshaw Cavenaugh; three daughters, 
Jannell Gledhill of San Diego, Calif., and Gladys Robinson and Kathy 
Kelley, both of Wallace; one son, Gerald D. Cavenaugh of New York City, 
N.Y.; one brother, Paul Cavenaugh of Wallace; seven grandchildren and two 
great-grandchildren.
Born in Duplin County, Mr. Cavenaugh was the son of the late Joseph J. and 
Martha Elizabeth (Patsy) Mallard Cavenaugh. He was a retired masonry 
contractor, was of the Pentecostal Free Will Baptist faith, and was a 
lifelong resident of the North East community.
Casketbearers were Phillip McClung, Sambo Cavenaugh, Duncan Cavenaugh, 
Kenneth Cavenaugh, Gene Cavenaugh and Billy Cavenaugh.
The family received at the Padgett Funeral Home from 7:30 to 9:00 p. m. 
Sunday and were at their residence, Route 3, Wallace, other times.
The body remained at the funeral home until 12:00 noon Monday when it was 
taken to the church to lie in state one hour prior the service.
