Obituary of Virginia Mae Cavenaugh Hanchey ~ 2006

Mrs. Virginia Cavenaugh Hanchey, age 88, of 416 Northeast Road , Wallace, 
died Sunday at her residence.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at Northeast 
Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church , conducted by Rev. Lester Hunter. 
Burial followed in Cavenaugh Cemetery.
She is survived by a son, Earl Hanchey and wife Faye of Wallace; one 
sister, Mrs. Louise Hardison of Wallace; one brother, Rifton Cavenaugh 
and wife JoAnn of Wallace; five grandchildren, Angela Rimes of 
Jacksonville, Karen Merritt of Clayton, Shana Bostic of Beulaville,
Dana Smith of Pink Hill and Anna Hanchey of Wallace; two grandsons, Wade 
Hanchey of Burgaw and Darian Hanchey of Wallace; fourteen great-
grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Peggy Garriss Hanchey of Wallace; 
two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Grace Cavenaugh of Wallace and Mrs. Mae 
Cavenaugh of Richmond, VA.
A native of Duplin County , Mrs. Hanchey was the daughter of the late 
Gaylor Cavenaugh and wife Cora Brown Cavenaugh. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Hanchey; a son, Emmette 
Lee Hanchey; one sister, Mrs. Norma Cavenaugh; and five brothers, 
Raymond Cavenaugh, Leon Cavenaugh, Leon Cavenaugh, Vernon Cavenaugh, 
James Cavenaugh and Durwood Cavenaugh. She was a member of Northeast 
Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church.
Casketbearers were D.J. Smith, Jeff Merritt, Kevin Bostic, Tony 
Cavenaugh, Andrew Hanchey and Jimmy Norris.
The family received friends Tuesday at the church and will be at Mrs. 
Hanchey's residence, 416 Northeast Road , Wallace, other times.
