Obituary of Vernon Ray Lanier ~ 1976

Hampstead -- Vernon Ray Lanier, 50, of Rt. 1, Hampstead, died Tuesday in
Pender Memorial Hospital.
Born in Pender County, Aug. 31 1926, he was the son of John Edward Lanier
and the late Libby McKoy Lanier.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. from Barlow-Vista Baptist Church
with the Rev. L. G. Green officiating.
Burial will follow in Red Door Cemetery in Maple Hill.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Doris Boldman Lanier of the home; two
daughters, Mrs. Theresa Miller of Wilmington, Delaware and Mrs. Debra
Lanier of Maple Hill; one son, LaVerne Lanier of Lakefield, Minnesota; two
step-daughters, Mrs. Susan C. Rogers of Lucasville, Ohio and Mrs. Melody
J. Aycock of Holly Ridge; father, John Edward Lanier of Burgaw; one sister,
Mrs. Dorothy Panciera of Waldorf, Maryland; two brothers, Alfred Donald
Lanier of Burgaw and Tracy C. Lanier of Rose Hill; eight grandchildren.
Casketbearers will be Michael, Jeffrey, Wayne, Tracy, Jr., Steven and Gary
Lanier.
The body was taken from Quinn McGowan Funeral Home to the residence at Rt.
1, Hampstead Wednesday and will remain at the home until 12 noon Friday
when it will be taken to the church.
