Burgaw - Mr. Tracy Carroll Lanier, of Burgaw, passed away Monday, November 
1, 1999, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 4, from the 
Rose Hill Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Dean Beck. 
Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
Mr. Lanier was born November 1, 1927, in the Player community in Pender 
County. He was the son of the late John Edward and Libby McKoy Lanier. Mr. 
Lanier was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Panciera and a brother, 
Vernon Ray Lanier.
Surviving is his loving wife of 4[...] years, Bettye Cottle Lanier and 
four sons, Tracy Carroll Lanier Jr. of Greensboro, NC, Stephen Clark 
Lanier and wife, Brenda, of Rocky Point, Gary Cottle Lanier Sr. of Burgaw 
and Clifton Craig Lanier and wife, Debra, of Beaufort, NC; four 
grandchildren, April Lanier, Gary Lanier Jr., Daniel (Bud) Lanier and 
Bradley Lanier; and two great-grandchildren, Blaine Allen Lanier and Cody 
Lanier. Also surviving are one brother, Alfred Donald Lanier and wife, 
Carolyn, of Burgaw; seven nieces and eleven nephews.
Mr. Lanier was a member of the Rose Hill Baptist Church, a veteran of 
World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the 
Wallace Deer Club and a past president of the Lions Club.
Casketbearers will be Michael Lanier, Gregory Lanier, Stanley Harper, 
Clarence Brown Jr., Jay Cottle and Jeffrey DeChick.
The family will receive at the Padgett Funeral Home from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. 
Wednesday and will be at their residence, 280 Glade Ridge Road, Burgaw, 
other times.
