Toby Byrd Dies at Home Near Kinston 

Toby Byrd, 45, a prominent farmer from the Mewborn's Crossroads section 
near Kinston, died about noon Friday at his home from a heart attack. 
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p. m. Saturday from the home. Rev. 
Clifton Rice, Free Will Baptist minister of Kinston, will officiate. 
Burial will follow in the L. P. Tyndall cemetery near old Pink Hill.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Agnes Byrd; three sons, Horace, Tommy and 
Johnny; four daughters, Lena Mae, Agnes Mae and Carol, all of the home, 
and Mrs. Kirby Moody of Deep Run; one brother, Nathan Byrd of Deep Run; 
four sisters, Mesdames Geneva Byrd, Henry Phillips, Sudie Stroud and 
Herbert Hill, all of Deep Run; his mother, Mrs. Fannie Byrd, who made her 
home with her son, and two grandchildren.
