Thomas Franklin Cavenaugh Sr. of 4465 William Louis Dr., Wilmington, N.C.,
died Friday, November 19, 1999, peacefully at his home.
He was born in Duplin County, N.C., on February 14, 1923, the son of the
late Carmer Cavenaugh and Susan Walker Cavenaugh.
He was a beloved member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a
Deacon for 45 years and served in many areas of the church especially as
church treasurer for many years. He was retired from W.R. Grace Company.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Gladys Mobley Cavenaugh; one daughter, Mrs.
Nancy Martin and husband, John of Jacksonville, N.C.; four sons, Thomas
Franklin Cavenaugh Jr. and wife, Janice, Bruce Cavenaugh and wife, Alice,
Jeffrey Cavenaugh and wife, Barbara, and Gary Cavenaugh and wife, Carlita,
all of Wilmington; eleven grandchildren, Beverly Johnson, Laurie Taylor,
Nissa Curtis, April Cavenaugh, Brent Cavenaugh, Jonathon Cavenaugh,
Matthew Cavenaugh, Allison Cavenaugh, Jessica Foy, Rebekah Cavenaugh and
Carlette Cavenaugh; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Hazel
Jenkins and husband, Roy of Wilmington.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, November 22, 1999, at
Calvary Baptist Church by Dr. Marc Drake and Dr. David Goodroe. Interment
will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Murphy, Eddie Cavenaugh, Steve Rivenbark, Jimmy
Cavenaugh, Roy Lanier, Kenneth Mobley and David Cavenaugh.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Andrews
Mortuary Market Street Chapel.
