Obituary of Thelma Mae Norris Carter ~ 1983

Wallace - Mrs. Thelma Norris Carter, age 80, of 513 Forest Lane in Wallace 
died unexpectedly Monday afternoon at New Hanover Memorial Hospital in 
Wilmington.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. from the First 
Baptist Church of Wallace conducted by Dr. Aubrey Jones and Rev. Edgar 
Whitlock. Burial will follow in the Brice Cemetery.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Ross (Jessie) Teachey and Mrs. Robert 
(Edith) Henderson, both of Rose Hill, and Mrs. Waitus (Morie Lee) English
 of Hampstead; one foster sister, Mrs. Horact (Hilma) Roberts of Topsail 
Beach; and one foster brother, Kenneth Norris of Wallace.
A native of Duplin County, Mrs. Carter was the daughter of the late Vann 
and Emily Cavenaugh Norris and was the widow of Hubert Carter. She was a 
member of the First Baptist Church of Wallace.
Casketbearers will be Jesse Henderson, Winston Henderson, Wendell Teachey, 
Donny Johnson, Henry Carter and Waitus Carroll English.
The family received at the Edgerton Funeral Home in Wallace from 7 to 9 
p.m. Tuesday and will be at Mrs. Carter's residence, 513 Forest Lane in 
Wallace, at other times.
The body will remain at the funeral home until 1 p.m. Wednesday when it 
will be taken to the church to lie in state one hour prior to the service.
