Obituary of Stephen William Cavenaugh ~ 1981

Wallace - Mr. Stephen William Cavenaugh, 81, of Route 2, Box 321, Wallace, 
died Tuesday night in Duplin General Hospital in Kenansville after a 
lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. from the Oakdale Pentecostal 
Freewill Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Virgil Murphy and Rev. Samuel W. 
Swinson. Burial will follow in the William Sholar Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Beadie Sholar Cavenaugh; three daughters, 
Mrs. Edna Baxley of Plant City, Fla., Mrs. P.H. (Shirley) Pigford of 
Kinston and Mrs. Bill (Thelma) Stokes of Wallace; two granddaughters, Miss 
Gail Stokes of Raleigh and Miss Marilyn Stokes of Wallace; one grandson, 
William Stokes of Wallace; one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Sholar of Wallace; 
three brothers, Buel Cavenaugh of Wallace, Cyrus Cavenaugh of Warsaw and 
Carroll Cavenaugh of Magnolia.
A native of Duplin County he was the son of the ate Reilly and Mary Ellen 
Brown Cavenaugh. He was a retired farmer.
The body was taken from the Edgerton Funeral Home in Wallace to Mr. 
Cavenaugh's residence at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday where it will remain until 1 
p.m. Thursday when it will be taken to the church to lie in state one hour 
prior to the service.
Casketbearers will be I.V. Sholar, Winford Mobley, K.L. Sholar, Charles 
Albertson, Elmer Cavenaugh and Morrison Sholar.
