Obituary of Ruth Williams Cavenaugh ~ 2005

Ruth Williams Cavenaugh, age 88, of Wallace, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at 
Golden Care Rest Home.
Mrs. Cavenaugh was born January 7, 1917, in Pender County and was the 
daughter of the late George Washington and Ottie Wall Williams. 
She was predeceased by her husband, William David Cavenaugh in 1990 and 
infant daughter, Billie Jean Cavenaugh. She was the longest living 
survivor of three brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Cavenaugh was a lifelong member of Northeast Pentecostal Free Will 
Baptist Church where she was secretary and treasurer for over thirty-five 
years. She was employed many years at Benjamin's Department Store in 
Wallace.
Surviving are her loving children, Faye C. Wheeler and husband Pat of 
Jacksonville, FL, and Ann Cavenaugh of Wallace; grandchildren, Will 
Wheeler and wife, Sharon, Dean Wheeler and wife, Susie, David Wheeler and 
wife, Patty, all of Jacksonville, FL, Greg Fields and friend Tammy, and 
Elizabeth Fields and fiance, Stephen, all of Wallace; eight great-
grandchildren; special nieces, Wanda Edens of Wilmington and Betty 
Matthews of Wallace; special friend Carnell Nanny of Wallace; and special 
caregivers of Golden Care Rest Home including Sally, Iris, Peggy and Nikki.
Graveside funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Cavenaugh Family 
Cemetery with the Rev. Allen Patrick Wheeler, Mr. Will Wheeler and the 
Rev. Lester Hunter officiating.
Memorial service will be immediately following the graveside service at 
Northeast PFWB Church with the Rev. Allen Patrick Wheeler, Mr. Will Wheeler 
and the Rev. Lester Hunter officiating.
The family will receive friends 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Quinn-McGowen
Funeral Home, Wallace, and at other times at the home of Ann Cavenaugh.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Alzheimer's Research 
Center, 640 Jackson Street, St. Pauls, NY 55101 or Carolina East Hospice, 
PO Box 887, Kenansville, NC 28349 or Northeast PFWB Church, 129 Hanchey 
Road, Wallace, NC 28466.
