Wallace - Mr. Roy Stephen Cavenaugh, Sr., age 84, of 210 Elm Street in 
Wallace died Thursday night, July 3, 1997, at the Brian Center in Wallace.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, 1997, from the 
First Baptist Church of Wallace, conducted by Rev. Dennis N. Bazemore. 
Burial will follow in Rockfish Cemetery.
He is survived by one son, Roy Stephen Cavenaugh Jr. of Wallace; four 
granddaughters, Angela Dawn Findeisen of Richlands, Kattie Cavenaugh, 
Rachael Cavenaugh, and Cara Cavenaugh, all of Kingwood, Texas; one 
grandson, Matthew Cavenaugh of Kingwood, Texas; and one great-grandson, 
Randy West Findeisen III of Richlands. He was pre-deceased by his wife, 
Mr. Carolyn Mildred Bryant Cavanaugh; and a son, Dudley Newton Cavenaugh.
A native of Duplin County, Mr. Cavenaugh was the son of the late Matthew 
Judson and Martha Britt Cavenaugh. He was former owner of Cavenaugh 
Chevrolet in Wallace, he was a member of the Wallace Masonic Lodge #595 
for over fifty years, he was a North Carolina Aviation pioneer, and was a 
member of the First Baptist Church of Wallace.
Casketbearers will be Buzzy Holland, Dick Roberts, Jim Russ Sr., Blake 
Wallace, John Dixon and Bobby Blanton. Honorary bearers will be Bill 
Sutton, David Henderson, Harry Carlton, Guy Barger, Paul Holland Marvin 
Carter, Lloyd Boone, The Mens Bible Class of First Baptist Church of 
Wallace, members of the N.C. Highway Patrol, and members of the Duplin 
County Sherriff's Dept.
The family will receive at the Padgett Funeral home from 7:30 to 9 p.m. 
Sunday, and will be at the residence of Mr. Roy Stephen Cavenaugh Jr., 515 
East Cavenaugh Street in Wallace other times.
