Roland C. James, age 82, of Wallace, died Monday, November 19, 2002, at 
Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center.
Mr. James was born July 6, 1920, in Duplin County and was the son of 
the late Rodolph and Ida Catherine Sholar James. He was predeceased by 
his son, Floyd Ray James, daughter, Janice James Sikes, grandson, Kevin 
Sikes, brother, Roe James and sister, Rubena James.
He attended Lighthouse Family Worship Center. He was a charter member 
of Northeast Ruritan Club and assisted in organizing the Northeast 
Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-eight years, Lucy English James of the 
home, daughter, June Cavenaugh and husband, Stanley of Wallace; 
grandchildren, Hogue Cavenaugh and wife, Marci, Jason Cavenaugh and 
wife, Ramona and Rolanda West and husband, Clayton; eight great-
grandchildren; sisters, Eunice Humphries of Gainesville, GA and Lottie 
Raynor of Burgaw and brother, Kellom James of Gahana, OH.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral 
Home, Wallace Chapel with the Rev. Jim Brinkley and the Rev. Ray Bodin 
officiating.
Entombment will follow in Riverview Memorial Park Mausoleum, Watha.
Casketbearers will be R.C. James, Gary James, Stanley James, Leon 
Humphries, Ronnie Blanchard and Mike Grey.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at 
Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Wallace.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Lighthouse Family 
Worship Center, 539 Lighthouse Road, Wallace, NC 28466 or Lower Cape 
Fear Hospice Care Center, 725-A Wellington Avenue, Wilmington, NC 28401.
