Obituary of Randolph Fennell Lanier ~ 1978

Chinquapin - Randolph Fennell Lanier, 76, died Thursday night at his home 
after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 4:30 
p.m. from the Edgerton Funeral Chapel of Wallace conducted by the Rev. 
Phillip Denton and the Rev. David Gordon. 
Burial will follow in the Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Emily Turner Lanier; two daughters, Mrs. Mrs. 
Margaret Futrelle of Chinquapin and Mrs. Nellie Stuart of Wilmington; 
three step-daughters, Mrs. Ellen Stonecypher, Mrs. Grace Brown of Rose 
Hill and Mrs. Emily Pickett of Chinquapin; three step-sons, Terry Dail of 
Hobbs, New Mexico, Wayne Dail and Gene Dail, both of Goldsboro; four 
sisters, Mrs. Lillie Maready of Jacksonville, mRS. Glendora Lanier and 
Mrs. Susie Sandlin, both of Chinquapin, and Mrs. Elizabeth Durrows of 
Marcy, New York; three brothers, Alton Lanier of Chinquapin, Albert Lanier 
of Wallace and Ervin Lanier of Beulaville; one grandson, Ranny Futrell 
of Chinquapin; two great-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
A native of Duplin County, he was the son of the late John and Mary Batts 
Lanier. He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Sharon Baptist 
Church.
Casketbearers will be James Lanier, Garland Lanier, Levon Sandlin, Billy 
Woods, Kenneth Huffman and H.L. Sanderson Jr.
If preferred, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sharon 
Baptist Church.
