Obituary of Ralph Shackleford Cavenaugh ~ 1971

Rose Hill - Ralph Shackleford Cavenaugh, 65, died Monday in Medicenter in
Wilmington.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. from the Wallace
Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Ralph Jernigan.
Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park near Watha.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Annie Wood Cavenaugh; two daughters, Mrs.
Virginia Sweatman of Wilmington and Mrs. Melvin Alexander of Hildegrand;
one step-daughter, Mrs. Bruce Burkhart of Lexington; one son, S-Sgt.
Franklin Cavenaugh, US Air Force, Charleston, S. C.; one step-son,
Cornelius Dixon of Winston-Salem; two half-sisters, Mrs. Sudie Mae Jones
of Warsaw and Mrs. Pholetta Faircloth of Whiteville; two half-brothers,
Alton Cavenaugh of Meridian, Miss., and Jackie Cavenaugh of Warsaw; ten
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A native of Jones County, he was a retired justice of the peace, a retired
employee of Atlantic Casket Company of Rose Hill, a member of the Wallace
Pentecostal Holiness Church, and a deacon for several years.
He was the son of the late Alonzo and Ida Wroten Cavenaugh.
Pallbearers will be Everett Murray, Carey Everett, E. J. Whaley Jr.,
Franklin Cottle, J. C. Rivenbark, and Howard Murray.
Visitation will be at Edgerton Funeral Home until 2:30 p.m. when the body
will be taken to the church.
