Funeral Rites For Mrs. Cavenaugh Held on Saturday
Mrs. J. J. Cavenaugh, Beloved Resident of the Northeast Community, Died at
the Home of Her Daughter, Mrs. Sallie McClung, Friday Morning, October 16.
Mrs. J. J. Cavenaugh, 73, beloved citizen of Northeast community, near
Wallace, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sallie McClung, on Friday
morning, October 16, following a brief illness resulting from a fall she
received earlier last week. She had been in declining health for several
years, but was active most of the time. She was one of the oldest residents
of Northeast community and a faithful member of the Northeast Free Will
Baptist Church.
Mrs. Cavenaugh was well-known by her friends as "Mrs. Patsy." Her pastor,
Rev. K. D. Brown said, "I want to say that she was the best woman in the
world; but I will say, she was one of the best women I have ever known."
What could be a more fitting tribute for a good woman?
Her husband, J. J. Cavenaugh, preceded her in death over two years ago.
She is survived by six sons and one daughter, Mrs. Sallie McClung, with
whom she has made her home for the past several years; Claude E., Robert
R., W. Joseph, Paul M., Herman J., and Walter A. Cavenaugh; also by 21
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at the N. E. Free Will Baptist church, on last
Saturday afternoon, at 3:00 o'clock with Rev. K. D. Brown of Burgaw in
charge of the funeral. Interment followed in the Cavenaugh Cemetery.
Active pall bearers were O. A. Cavenaugh, P. W. Carter, George Teachey,
Howard Atkinson, Rice Register and Corbet Pierce.
