Obituary of Minnie Lee Lanier Sloan ~ 1975

Mrs. Minnie Lanier Sloan, 65, of Chinquapin died Thursday night at her home.
Funeral services were held on Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Bethlehem Freewill 
Baptist Church at Fountain conducted by the Rev. W. H. Willis. 
Burial was in the Tom Lanier Cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Arthur Sloan; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Jones 
and Elna Gray Sloan, both of Chinquapin; three sons, Gordon Sloan of 
Wilmington, Arthur G. Sloan of Houston, Tex., and Terry Sloan of 
Beulaville; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Bradham and Bertie Hatcher, both 
of Chinquapin and Mrs. Ada Brown of Wallace; one brother, John Edward 
Lanier of Burgaw; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A native of Duplin County, she was the daughter of the late Tom and 
Victoria Lanier. She was a member of the Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church.
Visitation was at the Edgerton Funeral Home in Beulaville until noon 
Sunday when the body was taken to the church.

Active pallbearers were L. C. Bradham, Earl Hatcher, Tracy Lanier, Gurmon 
Lanier, J. W. Lanier and Mac Hunter.
Honorary Pallbearers were Alvis Fountain, Arthus Brown, Ronald Nobles, 
Lloyd Jones, Daniel Edwards and O'Brien Jones.
