Obituary of Marion Butler Cavenaugh ~ 1981

Wallace - Marion Butler Cavanaugh, 85, of Route 2, Wallace, died Tuesday
afternoon at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. from the Sharon Baptist
Church in Chinquapin conducted by Rev. Phillip Denton. Burial will follow
in the Sharon Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Annie Landen Cavanaugh; three sisters,
Mrs. Ethel Maie Kerr of Wilmington, Mrs. Irma Bland and Mrs. T. E. (Nancy)
Woods both of Orlando, Fla.; four brothers, W. Nick Cavanaugh of Richlands,
James H. Cavanaugh of New Bern, M. Elmer Cavanaugh of Huntington Beach,
Calif., and Sidney A. Cavanaugh of Wilmington.
A native of Onslow County, Mr. Cavanaugh was the son of the late James
Bryant and Lucy Foster Cavanaugh. He was a retired farmer and a member of
Sharon Baptist Church.
Casketbearers will be Bobby Hanchey, Carey York, Henry York, Chip Jordan,
Jimmie Cavanaugh and Ronnie Cavanaugh.
Honorary bearers will be George Frank Lander, Jack Albertson, Hallie
Albertson, Earl Cavanaugh, Thomas Cavanaugh, James Cavanaugh, W.M.
Rivenbark, Finley Carr, Garland King, N.P. Blanchard, Homer James, Bill
Brant, Haywood Hatcher, Norman Kennedy, David Wood, Harry Parker, Mrs.
Louise Southerland, Earnest Gray and T.G. Huffman.
The family received at the Edgerton Funeral Home in Wallace from 7 to 9
p.m. Wednesday and will be at Mr. Cavanaugh's residence other times.
The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Thursday to lie in state
one hour prior to services.
