Mrs. Magnolia Cavenaugh Mintz, age 90, of Wilmington, NC, died Monday,
December 13, 2004, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter,
Wilmington, NC.
She was born in Brunswick County on April 5, 1914, the daughter of the
late Jacob Woodley Cavenaugh and Fannie Lawhorne Cavenaugh.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lutha Mintz, a grandson, Richie
Futrelle and a great-grandson, David Bradley Eason, also preceded in death
by eight loving brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Mintz was affiliated with New Hanover County Sheriff's Department
and the North Carolina Department of Corrections for many years. She was
a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be
greatly missed.
Surviving are her children, Melba Boyd and husband John, Lutha Mintz Jr.
and wife Diane, both of Wilmington, NC, Howard Mintz and wife Dorothy of
Hampstead, NC, Daphne Eason and husband Andy, also of Wilmington, NC,
Willa White and husband Gary of Raleigh, NC, and Lloyd Mintz and wife
Brenda of Burgaw, NC; a brother, Johnny Cavenaugh and wife Betty of
Winnapow, NC; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren;
two special children, Gwen Cavenaugh of Wilmington, NC, and Carolyn
Fussell of Teachey, NC.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 16, 2004 at
Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Services, Oleander Chapel, by Reverend Rudy
Shepard. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the Coble
Ward-Smith Funeral Service, Oleander Chapel.
Pallbearers will be grandsons in honor of Mrs. Mintz, Andy Eason Jr.,
David Eason, Buck Eason, Lutha Eason, Richard Boyd III, Lutha David
Mintz III, Howard Mintz Jr. and Kevin Mintz. Honorary pallbearers will be
Dr. Mary K. Rudyk and staff.
