Obituary of Ludie Adams Lanier ~ 1974

Chinquapin - Mrs. Luda L. Lanier, 91, died Saturday night in Duplin 
General Hospital in Kenansville.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 4 p. m. from the Lanier's Chapel 
Freewill Baptist Church by Rev. S. A. Smith, Rev. Ralph Kennedy, and Rev. 
O. B. Taylor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Geneva Maready of Maysville, Mrs. Alice 
Batts and Mrs. Gladys Lanier, both of Chinquapin and Mrs. Nernie Dail of 
Newport News, Va.; four sons, Eli Lanier of Sneeds Ferry, Winfred Lanier 
and Cicero Lanier, both of Beulaville and Leonard Lanier of Chinquapin; 
thirty three grandchildren, seventy give great grandchildren and six great 
great grandchildren.
A native of Duplin County, Mrs. Lanier was the daughter of the late Hosea 
and Rebecca Cavenaugh Lanier and was the widow of Dave Hatch Lanier. She 
was a member of Lanier's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
Visitation will be at Edgerton Funeral Home of Wallace until 1:30 p. m. 
Monday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until the 
service.
The family will be at the residence of Mrs. Gladys Lanier of Chinquapin.
