Obituary of Lucy Margaret Gavin English ~ 1988

Wallace - Mrs. Margaret Gavin English, age 79, of Route 3, Wallace, died 
Wednesday morning, Aug. 31 in Duplin General Hospital in Kenansville after 
a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 2 at 2 p.m. from the Northeast 
Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Clyde Shelton and 
Rev. Billy Toler. Burial will follow in Cavenaugh Cemetery.
Survived by one daughter, Mrs. Roland (Lucy) James of Wallace; one son, 
Aubine English of Wallace; two sisters, Mrs. Danie Wilson of Wallace and 
Mrs. Elizabeth Merritt of Ivanhoe, seven grandchildren, 14 great-
grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Born in Magnolia, N.C., Mrs. English was the daughter of the late Robert 
and Mary Whaley Gavin and was the widow of Floyd Dewey English. She was 
a member of the Northeast Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church.
Casketbearers will be James F. Kelley Jr., Hogue Cavenaugh, Jason 
Cavenaugh, Kevin Sikes, Ricky Kelley, Maurice Kelley, and Tony Carr. 
Honorary bearers will be Stanley Cavenaugh, James F. Kelley Sr., Larry 
Kelley, Billy Carr, John Sikes, Biney English, and Michael English.
The family will receive at Padgett Funeral Home in Wallace from 7:30 to 
9 p.m. Thursday and will be at their residence, Route 3, Wallace other 
times.
The body will remain at the funeral home until 12 noon Friday when it 
will be taken to the church to lie in state one hour prior the service.
