Beulaville - Mr. Lemuel "Joe" Brinson Jr., age 57, of Route 2, Rocky Point,
died early Wednesday morning in the Veterans Administration Medical Center 
in Fayetteville after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Edgerton Funeral 
Chapel in Beulaville, conducted by the Rev. Garland Foushee. 
Burial will follow in the Thigpen Cemetery in Beulaville.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Virginia Walls Brinson; one daughter, Mrs. 
Mary Ann Campise of Barnaget, N.J.; two sons, Lemuel Joseph Brinson of 
Barnaget, N.J., and Michael Francis Brinson of Toms River, N.J.; two 
stepdaughters, Miss Lori Francine Jenkins of the home and Mrs. Cheryl Lynn 
Taylor of Crosby, Texas; four stepsons, Robert Allen Jenkins, Nathan Glenn 
Jenkins and Christopher Lee Jenkins all of Channel View, Texas, and 
Sterling Eugene Jenkins of Houston, Texas; his mother, Mrs. Annie C. 
Horvatch of Rocky Point; stepfather, Bill Horvatch of Rocky Point; one 
sister, Mrs. Bill (Betty) Livengood of Wilmington; five grandchildren; 
and six step-grandchildren.
A native of Duplin County, Mr. Brinson was the son of Mrs. Annie Cavenaugh
Horvatch and the late Lemuel Brinson Sr.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was 
a self-employed trucker.
Casketbearers will be Malcolm Thigpen, Reggie Thigpen, Franklin Thigpen, 
Thomas Thigpen, L.L. Simpson and James L. Southerland.
The family will receive at the funeral home from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. 
Thursday and at the residence of Mrs. Annie Horvatch, Route 2, Rocky Point 
other times.
