Wallace - Mrs. Laura Mae Padgett Garvey, age 84, of Route 2, Wallace, 
died Wednesday, Jan. 1, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, from the Padgett 
Funeral Chapel in Wallace conducted by Rev. Buster Price. 
Burial will follow in the Powell Cemetery at Sloan.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Leamon (Joyce) Cavenaugh of Wallace, 
Mrs. Orian (Pearl) Cavenaugh of Wilmington, Mrs. Jimmy (Carolyn) Santiago 
of Leland and Mrs. Richard (Judy) Gray of Wilmington; one son, Willie 
Garvey and wife, Gail, of Leland; two sisters, Mrs. Russel (Nellie) 
Brown of Wilmington and Mrs. Graham (Virginia) Clemmons of Richmond, Va.; 
one brother, Charlie Padgett and wife Irene of Wilmington; eight 
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A native of Duplin County, Mrs. Garvey was the daughter of the late James 
Robert and Emma Rogers Padgett and was the widow of Paul Garvey. She was 
a membr of the Pin Hook Pentecostal Holiness Church.
The family will receive at the funeral home from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday 
and will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Leamon Cavenaugh, Route 2, 
Wallace, other times.
