Obituary of Julian Carol Mills ~ 1985

Willard -- Julian Carol Mills, 55, of Rt. 1, Willard, died Monday night 
at N.C. Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill after a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at Potts Memorial 
Presbyterian Church, conducted by Dr. William C. Goodnight and the Rev. 
Jack Dail. Burial will follow in Potts Memorial Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mamie Lee Mills; two daughters, Mrs. 
Randy (Lynn) Jones of Willard and Miss Kathryn Mills of Raleigh; five 
brothers, Gene Mills of Charlotte, Bobby Mills of Jacksonville, Fla., 
Kenneth Mills of Burgaw, Mickey Mills and Harry Mills, both of Watha, and 
three grandchildren.
A native of Pender County, Mr. Mills was the son of the late Ned Leon and 
Nora Anderson Mills. He was a retired merchant, having operated Penderlea 
Trading Company in Penderlea for many years. He was a member of the Pender 
County Health Department, a former chief of the Penderlea Fire Department, 
a member of the Board of Directors of the Pender County Museum, a former 
member of the Penderlea Ruritan Club. He was a member and Elder in the 
Potts Memorial Presbyterian Church and was a trustee for Potts Memorial 
Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Harris Mills, Phillip Mills, Macon Smith, Fred Rooks,
Steve Mills and Lewis Teachey.
The family will receive at the Edgerton Funeral Home in Wallace from 7:30 
to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and will be at their residence in Penderlea other 
times.
The body will remain at the funeral home until 2 p.m. Thursday, when it 
will be taken to the church to lie in state one hour prior the service.
