Funeral Rites For Watha Man Held Thursday 

J. P. Cavenaugh, Duplin Native, Died July 22 In James Walker Hospital 

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 24, for J. P. Cavenaugh from the 
Watha Free Will Baptist church with the pastor, W. B. Howell, officiating 
and assisted by Rev. Austin Wheeler and Rev. A. J. Benton. 
Burial was in the family cemetery ten miles east of Wallace.
Mr. Cavenaugh was born December 19, 1882, and was the son of the late J. W.
and Margaret Alice Cavenaugh, of Duplin County. He died July 22 in James 
Walker Memorial Hospital, Wilmington.
Pallbearers were Aubrey Teachey and J. W. Teachey, of Wilmington, Eustice 
Wood, of Wallace, James Wheeler, Thurman Garriss and Paul Garriss, of 
Watha.
The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hattie Stroud Cavenaugh; one 
son, W. J. Cavenaugh; two daughters, Mrs. Inez Swinson, and Mrs. Marie 
Chestnutt; four sisters, Mrs. Mellie Hanchey, of Richmond, Va.; Mrs. Dora 
Teachey, of Rose Hill; Mrs. Lillian Alexander, of Falcon; Mrs. Katie 
Teachey, of Watha. One brother, Macon Cavenaugh, of Rose Hill. Eight 
grandchildren also survive.
