Obituary of Joseph Edward Carter ~ 1948

Clinton, Dec. 21 -- Joseph Edward Carter, 29, died in a Fayetteville 
hospital Monday after a brief illness. 
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from 
Zoar church, and burial will be in the church cemetery. The Rev. Austin 
Wheeler of Wilmington will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Ora W. Eads. 
The body will remain at the Royal Funeral Home until the hour of the 
funeral.
Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Mrs. Oleta Matthews Carter, Clinton; 
his parents, the Rev. and Mrs. A. H. Carter; three sisters, Evelyn, 
Clinton, Mrs. Dennis E. Wells, Rocky Point, and Mrs. Louise Edna Keen, 
Clinton; seven brothers, Paul W. of Wilmington, Del., W. D. of 
Fayetteville, Odell of Germany, Harry, Pawtucket, R. I., Otha J., Herbert 
and J. D. Carter, all of Clinton, route four.
