Obituary of John Ressie Cavenaugh ~ 1981

Wallace - John Ressie Cavenaugh, age 74, died unexpectedly Monday 
afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clayton Jones, Route 2, 
Willard.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Edgerton 
Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Samuel W. Swinson. Burial will follow in 
the Cavenaugh Cemetery, Route 2, Wallace.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Clayton (Mary Virginia) Jones of 
Willard and Mrs. Durward (Ann) Fisher of Magnolia; one son, Morris 
Cavenaugh of Magnolia; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Cavenaugh, Mrs. Melva 
Stroud and Mrs. Bessie Cavenaugh all of Wallace; one brother, Mike 
Cavenaugh of Turkey; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A native of Duplin County, he was the son of John William and Lucy Kate 
Teachey Cavenaugh. He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Oak 
Grove Freewill Baptist Holiness Church and was a ruling elder of the 
church.
Casketbearers will be Terry Jones, Kenneth Lanier, Kenneth West, Louis 
Cavenaugh, Wendell Gray and Earl Cavenaugh.
Honorary bearers will be deacons of the Oak Grove Church.
The family will receive at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 
will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Jones, Route 2, Willard 
other times.
