Obituary of James Bland Wood ~ 1971

Delway - Mr. James B. Wood, 87, died in New Hanover Hospital Wednesday. 
He was a native of Duplin County and a retired farmer.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p. m. at the Evergreen Baptist
Church by the Rev. Allen Overton, the Rev. Vernon Braswell and the Rev. 
L. L. Johnson.
Burial will be in the Cavenaugh Cemetery near Chinquapin.
Survivors include his widow; Mrs. Tecia Wood, of the home; three daughters,
Mrs. Preston Baysden, Florence, S. C.; Mrs. Wilbur Blackburn, Garland; 
Mrs. Thomas Merrott of Clinton; five sons, Elbert of Pink Hill; Leroy of 
Castle Hayne; Clarence of Harrells; Howard of Wilmington and Robert Wood 
of Old Westbury, New York; one sister, Mrs. Bessie English of Willard; one 
brother, Oscar Wood of Wallace; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Sally Mae 
Strickland of Buffalo, N. Y.; Mrs. James Chestnutt of Hillsboro, Mrs. 
Ruby Vann of Rt. 1, Rose Hill; two step sons, Kenneth Jones of Rose Hill; 
James Lanier of Harrells; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 22 
stepgrandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren.
