Obituary of Jacob Cicero Lanier ~ 1985

Beulaville - Mr. Jacob Cicero Lanier, 63, of Rt. 1, Beulaville, died early 
Friday morning in Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville after a 
lingering illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m from 
the Beulaville Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Mike Worsham. 
Burial will follow in the Albertson Cemetery near Beulaville.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lillie Albertson Lanier; one daughter, Mrs. 
Hugh D. (Rita) Rogers of Pink Hill; four sisters, Mrs. Gladys Lanier and 
Mrs. Alice Batts both of Chinquapin, Mrs. Geneva Maready of Jacksonville 
and Mrs. Nernie Dail of Newport News, Va.; two brothers, Leonard Lanier 
of Chinquapin and Winfred Lanier of Beulaville; and four grandsons.
Born in Duplin County, Mr. Lanier was the son of the late David Hatch and 
Luda Lanier. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. 
Navy and was a member of the Beulaville Presbyterian Church. He was 
affiliated with James Sprunt Technical Institute in Kenansville for 
several years.
Casketbearers will be Laran Houston, Richard Williams, Carl Daniel Pate, 
Kenneth Smith, Kellon Maready, and Carlton James.
The family received at the Edgerton Funeral Home in Beulaville from 7 to 9 
p.m. Friday and will be at their residence Rt. 1, Beulaville, other times.
The body will remain at the funeral home until 12:30 p.m. Saturday when it 
will be taken to the church to lie in state one hour prior the service.
