Obituary of Florence Brinson Brown ~ 2006

Florence Brinson Brown, age 83, died Monday, August 21, 2006, at her home
in Kenansville surrounded by her family. She was born September 9, 1922,
to the late Amos "Doc" Brinson and Cora Bostic Brinson.
She was a lifelong member of the Kenansville Baptist Church where she
served as a Sunday school teacher and on various committees. She was a
member of the Order of the Eastern Star for sixty-three years. She served
as Worthy Matron for four years as well as held various other offices
with the Eastern Star. She served with the United States Postal Service
for thirty-six years retiring as Postmaster in Kenansville.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-eight years, Thurman S.
Brown. She is survived by two daughters, Alice L. Brown and fiance Leonard
R. Cherry, Brenda F. Brown and husband Roger "Perks" Tharpe, one
granddaughter, Michelle Quinn and husband Kim Quinn, one great-grandson,
Holden Quinn, and one brother, Willard Brinson, all of Kenansville.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Annie Mae B. Blanton,
Mavis B. Thigpen, Irene B. Miller; and six brothers, Clifton Brinson,
Woodrow Brinson, Maurice Brinson, Amos Brinson, Lester Brinson and Davis
"Jack" Brinson.
The family will receive friends during visitation which will be held on
August 22, 2006, at Kenansville Baptist Church, 114 Routledge Road,
Kenansville, North Carolina, from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. A service
celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2006, at 3:00
p.m. at Kenansville Baptist Church. The Reverend Mike Thompson, Angie
Partin and Gene Lakey will officiate.
Interment will follow the service at Devotional Gardens on Highway 24
East. All other times the family will be at the home of Florence Brinson
Brown located at 204 Routledge Road, Kenansville.
