Obituary of Ethel English Cavenaugh ~ 1989

Ethel English Cavenaugh, age 79, of Route 3, Wallace, died Friday, April
28, in New Hanover Memorial Hospital, Wilmington, after a brief illness.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 30, at 2:30 p. m. from the North
East Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Walter
Pierce and the Rev. Elbert Hollowell. Burial followed in the Cavenaugh
Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Cavenaugh; one daughter, Mrs. James
(Ann Elizabeth) Lanier of Richmond, Va.; two sons, Billy Cavenaugh and
Joseph Cavenaugh, both of Wallace; one sister, Mrs. W. D. (Katie) Murray,
Sr. of Wallace; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Born in Wallace, Mrs. Cavenaugh was the daughter of the late Neal and
Martha Boney English, and was a member of the North East Pentecostal Free
Will Baptist Church.
Casketbearers were Warren Cavenaugh, Larry Lanier, Ricky Kelly, Murphy
Drew, Charles Powell, Allen Lee, and Mark Likens. Honorary bearers were
Phillip McClung, Russell Stokes, Bradley Sanderson, and Mack Raynor.
The family received at the funeral home from 7:00 to 9:00 p. m. Saturday
and were at their residence, Route 3, Wallace, other times.
The body remained at the funeral home until 1:00 p. m. Sunday when it was
taken to the church to lie in state one hour prior the service.
