Obituary of Ernest Dixon ~ 1981

Wallace - Mr. Ernest Dixon Sr., 79, of Route 1, Wallace, died unexpectedly 
Wednesday afternoon at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from the Edgerton Funeral 
Chapel conducted by Dr. Jesse Parks. 
Burial will follow in the Rockfish Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Asha Carr Dixon; one daughter, Mrs. 
John (Olivia) Wells of Teachey; one son, Ernest Dixon Jr. of Wallace; 
one stepdaughter, Mrs. Neal (Brenda) Mitchell of Greensboro; one stepson, 
Council Colwell of Wallace; five sisters, Mrs. Eva Carr of Raleigh, Mrs. 
Lyda Wells of Rose Hill, Mrs. Olive Hammonds of Wilmington, Mrs. Doris 
Hall of Knightdale and Mrs. Rosa Harvell of Southport; two brothers, 
P.D. Dixon of Wilmington and Louis Dixon of Burgaw; six grandchildren, 
three step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A native of Duplin County, Mr. Dixon was the son of the late P.D. and 
Lyda Myers Dixon. He was a retired farmer and merchant and a member of 
the Rockfish Presbyterian Church.
Casketbearers will be Jimmy Futrell, Charles Wells, Stanley Dixon, Jerry 
Carr, Hubert Dixon and Leland McGill.
The family will receive at their home, Route 1, Wallace.
