Obituary of Eli Cavenaugh ~ 1948

Mr. Eli Cavenaugh of Sunset Park, died Saturday afternoon at his residence 
after 16 years of invalidism. 
He was born in Duplin county 86 years ago, son of the late Rev. J. D. 
Cavenaugh.
Before his retirement he was well known in railroad and insurance circles, 
having been agent for the A. C. L. After moving to Wilmington in 1905 he
entered the insurance field.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Jennie Baker Cavenaugh, and the following
children, Mrs. Lucile Cavenaugh of New York city, Mrs. Madge Cavenaugh, 
also from N. Y., Mrs. J. Shepard Bryan of Dunn; Earnest, Harold, and Mary
Cavenaugh of Atlanta, Ga., Charles and James of Tampa, Fla., a sister Mrs. 
Emma Anderson of Watha; six grand children and several great grand 
children, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Ward Funeral home.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Ward Funeral Home Monday 
afternoon at 3 o'clock with the Rev. J. A. Russel officiating. Interment 
will follow in the Oakdale cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be R. F. Coleman, Spurgeon Baxley, D. B. Robbinson, J. B. McQuere, J. E. Hearn and A. E. Baker.
Honorary pallbearers will be W. B. Cooper, K. W. Price, G. B. Webster, G. 
C. Bordeaux, Dr. Houston and Dr. Albert G. Moore.
