Obituary of Elbert Essley Cavenaugh ~ 1977

Wallace - Mr. Elbert Essley Cavenaugh, 70, of 2017 Popular St., Wilmington,
died Tuesday morning in New Hanover Memorial Hospital in Wilmington. 
Funeral services will be Thursday at 4 p.m. from the Edgerton Funeral 
Chapel conducted by the Rev. Horace Jackson. Burial will follow in the 
Cavenaugh Cemetery.
Surviving are a wife, Mrs. Ruth Norris Cavenaugh; three sisters, Mrs. 
Norma Fussell of Rose Hill, Mrs. Beatrice Rivenbark of Wallace, Mrs. 
Hazel Jenkins of Castle Hayne; three brothers, Clifton Cavenaugh and Frank 
Cavenaugh, both of Castle Hayne, and Dewey Cavenaugh of Wilmington.
A native of Duplin County, he was the son of the late Carmer and Sudie 
Walker Cavenaugh, he was an engineer with the Hotel Cape Fear in 
Wilmington and was a member of Sunset Park Baptist Church.
Casketbearers will be Roy Lanier, Tommie Cavanaugh, Jimmy Cavenaugh, Terry 
Cottle, Virgil Norris and Arnold Norris.
Honorary pallbearers will be The Mens Bible Class of Sunset Park Baptist 
Church.
The family will be at Benny G. Norris's residence, Rt. 3, Wallace and at 
the Edgerton Funeral Home from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday evening.
