Richlands -- Edward M. "Mike" Carter, 73, of Richlands died Wednesday. 
Carter was a member of the American Legion and Richlands Moose Lodge. 
He was also a former Onslow County Magistrate. Services will be at 3 p.m. 
Sunday from Richlands United Methodist Church with the Rev. William A. 
Boykin officiating. Entombment will follow with full military honors at 
Onslow Memorial Park, Jacksonville. 
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Swinson Carter; one son, Charles Edward 
Carter of Richlands; three daughters, Joyce Marie Robinson and Linda Carol 
Trott, both of Richlands, and Patricia Elaine Williams of Kinston; two 
brothers, Kenneth Carter and Guy Carter, both of Beulaville; six sisters, 
Dallas Swinson of Richlands, Maria Whaley of Kernersville, Luvenia Glenn 
of Clearbrook, Va., Sadie Joy of Springfield, Va., Eleanor Schaefer of 
Bacaville, Calif., and Mavis Hemby of Beulaville; nine grandchildren; and 
six great-grandchildren. 
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at 
Johnson-Gaskins Funeral Home in Richlands. Memorials may be made to 
Richlands United Methodist Church, Richlands, N.C.
