Wallace - Mrs. Cora Brown Cavenaugh, age 89, died Thursday in New Hanover
Memorial Hospital in Wilmington after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Edgerton Funeral
Chapel in Wallace conducted by Rev. Billy Toler and Rev. Elbert Hollowell.
Burial will follow in the Cavenaugh Cemetery, Route 2, Wallace.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Virginia) Hanchey and Mrs.
Louise Hardison, both of Wallace; four sons, Vernon Cavenaugh and Rifton
Cavenaugh, both of Wallace, Raymond Cavenaugh of Richmond, Va., and Leon
Cavenaugh of Forestville, Md.; 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren
and one great-great-grandchild.
Born in Duplin County, Mrs. Cavenaugh was the daughter of Julis and Mary
Elizabeth Davis Brown and was the widow of Gaylor A. Cavenaugh.
She was a member of the Northeast Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church.
Casketbearers will be Thurman Hardison, Stephen Cavenaugh, Earl Hanchey,
Jimmy Norris, Tommy Cavenaugh and Ray Cavenaugh Jr.
The family will receive at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and
at Mrs. Cavenaugh's residence at other times.
