Mr. Clarence Winfield "Singing Sam" Whaley, age 82, of 140 NC Hwy. 903 & 
11 North in Kenansville died peacefully Friday, September 29, 2006, at his 
home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 2, at 7:00 p.m. at Padgett 
Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Buddy Mitchell and Rev. Donnie Seagle. 
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Devotional 
Gardens in Warsaw.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Louise (Weezie) Whaley of 
the home; 5 daughters, Faye Whaley of Kenansville, Betty Murray & husband 
Joe of Wallace, Barbara Weaver & husband Andy of Raleigh, Karen House & 
husband Bob of Wallace, and Sharon Seagle & husband Donnie of Hernando, 
FL; 3 granddaughters, Angie Boone & husband Gene of Warsaw, Christen 
Weaver of Chapel Hill, and Chelsea Usher of Hernando, FL; 2 grandsons, 
Craig Usher of Hernando, FL, and Brady Weaver of Raleigh, 1 great-
granddaughter, Allie Boone of Warsaw; and 1 great-grandson, Benjamin 
“B.J.” Boone of Warsaw; a very special cousin, Dorothy Norris of Sneads 
Ferry.
Born in Onslow County, Mr. Whaley was the son of the late Herman James and 
Annie Daughtry Whaley. He was a retired foreman with the Department of 
Transportation. Mr. Whaley was also preceded in death by a daughter, Helen 
Marie Whaley.
Casketbearers will be Joe Murray, Andy Weaver, Brady Weaver, Bob House, 
Craig Usher, Donnie Seagle and Gene Boone.
The family will receive at the funeral home immediately following the 
funeral service Monday until 9:00 p.m. and will be at their residence 
other times.
The family suggest those so desiring may make memorials to The Alzheimer’s 
Association, 714 Champ Davis Road Wilmington, NC 28411.
They would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Daniel M. Ricci and 
Carolina East Homecare & Hospice and also, Muriel Hall.
