Cottle Rites Will Be Weds. 

Charlie Maken Cottle, 77, of 104 Pope Street, Erwin, died Monday morning 
in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Duplin County, he was retired farmer and son of the late H. W. 
and Annie Foster Cottle.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Grove Free 
Will Baptist Chruch. 
Burial will be in the Church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Pearl Faircloth Cottle; six sons, James and 
Charles of Dunn, Charlie Cottle Jr. of Norfolk Va., Harold of Tampa, 
Fla., Melvin of Chesapeake, Va., and Herman Cottle of Mount Morris, Pa.; 
five daughters, Mrs. G. A. Brown of King Charles, Va., Mrs. Sexton Vann 
of Erwin, Mrs. Johnny Hamilton of Chesapeake, Va., Mrs. Joan Rowland of 
Dunn, Mrs. Rupert Williams of Fayetteville; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Judy 
Davis of Dunn; one brother, John T. Cottle of Rose Hill; two sisters, 
Mrs. Lida Phyaw of New Bern and Mrs. Harvey Futrell of Catherine Lake; 
29 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 
three step-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Cromartie-Pearsall Funeral Home 
tonight (Tuesday) from 7:00 to 9:00.
