Obituary of Charles Hughes Cavenaugh ~ 1980

Wallace - Charles Hughes Cavanaugh, 65, Rt. 2, Wallace, died Friday 
morning in Veteran's Hospital in Durham after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Edgerton Funeral 
Chapel conducted by President Tharon Shepard. Burial will follow in the 
Cavanaugh Cemetery.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Pauline Serber of Hampton, Va., Mrs. 
Geraldine Townsend of Smithfield, Va., and Mrs. Sharon Yvonne McDaniel of 
Tampa, Fla.; two sons, Arnold Cavanaugh of Hampton, Va., and A1/C Marcus 
Owen Cavanaugh of Biloxi, Miss.; his mother, Mrs. Veda Hanchey Cavanaugh 
of Wallace; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Holton of Richmond and Mrs. Willie 
Wells of Wallace; three brothers, R.C. Cavanaugh and Frank Cavanaugh, both 
of Wallace, and Samuel M. Cavanaugh of Whiteville; and nine grandchildren.
A native of Duplin County, he was a retired carpenter and was the son of 
the late Roland Cavanaugh and Mrs. Veda Hanchey Cavanaugh. He was a 
veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy.
Casketbearers will be Sammy Cavanaugh, David Cavanaugh, Jimmy Cavanaugh, 
Andy Cavanaugh, Stewart Wells and Gary Wells.
The family will receive at the Edgerton Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. 
Saturday and will be at Mrs. Veda Cavanaugh's residence, Rt. 2, Wallace, 
at other times.
